Christmas in Vienna

The Viennese Christmas markets will once again open their doors at the end of November. Their magical ambience and surroundings will delight visitors of all ages throughout the Christmas holiday. Experience the advent season in Vienna in front of the Vienna Rathaus (town hall), Belvedere Palace, Schönbrunn Palace, at the artisans’ market on Spittelberg and myriad other places. Get into pre-Christmas spirit right away by walking through the most attractive markets and learn many interesting facts about Viennese Christmas and advent traditions and customs. You might be quite surprised to hear about when and how these traditions made their way to Vienna. Delight your senses and browse the many stands, where you will find delightful candles, Christmas baubles and even many hand-made Christmas tree ornaments – you will be sure to find just the present you are looking for. If it is cold out, you warm up with your choice of spiced punch (also available without alcohol) or mulled wine. And keep this important detail in mind: in Vienna, we don’t have Saint Claus. Rather, well-behaved children get a visit from the Christkind (or Christ Child). Don’t forget to mail your wish list on time!

You can choose to take this pre-Christmas tour on foot or in your coach. Please coordinate all details with your tour guide.
