Ludwig van Beethoven

Born in Bonn, Ludwig van Beethoven came to Vienna at the age of 17 with the goal of meeting Mozart, which probably didn´t happen. Several years later he moved to Vienna for good, here he had his most remarkable successes. It was also in Vienna that his hearing problems became increasingly worse.

We start at Beethovenplatz square with its monument dedicated to the great master, pass by Vienna Konzerthaus and Musikverein, walking towards the Vienna State Opera. Beethoven´s Symphony No. 9 was first performed at the so-called “Kärntnertortheater”,  located where hotel Sacher stands today. Beethoven made his first public appearance at Michaelerplatz square, where the old Imperial Court Theatre was located. Lastly, we reach the “Pasqualatihouse” on the former city fortifications, where Beethoven lived for several years. We will share insightful stories about Beethoven´s life and work in Vienna.
